இலங்கை எழுத்தாளர் ஷெஹான் கருணாதிலக எழுதிய நாவலுக்கு புக்கர் பரிசு!

இலங்கை எழுத்தாளர் ஷெஹான் கருணாதிலக இந்த ஆண்டுக்கான புக்கர் பரிசை புனைகதைக்காக வென்றுள்ளார். “சர்வதேச புக்கர் பரிசு” எழுத்தாளர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்படும் மிக உயரிய விருதாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது. புக்கர் பரிசு ஆண்டுதோறும் உலகின் வெவ்வேறு நாடுகளில் அதன் பிராந்திய மொழியில் எழுதப்பட்டு ஆங்கிலத்தில் மொழிபெயர்க்கப்பட்ட நாவலுக்கு வழங்கப்படுகிறது. அந்த வகையில் இவ்வருட புக்கர் பரிசுக்காக உலகம் முழுவதிலுமிருந்து 169 நாவல்கள் விருதுக்காக சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த நிலையில் இலங்கை எழுத்தாளர் ஷெஹான் கருணாதிலக எழுதிய நாவல் இந்த ஆண்டுக்கான புக்கர் பரிசை வென்றுள்ளது. ஷெஹான் கருணாதிலக புக்கர் பரிசை “தி செவன் மூன்ஸ் ஆஃப் மாலி அல்மேடா” என்ற புனைகதைக்காக வென்றார். விடுதலைப் புலிகளுக்கும் இலங்கை ராணுவத்துக்கும் இடையே நடந்த போரால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட இலங்கையை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு இந்த நாவல் ஒரு கற்பனைக் கதையாக எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது. லண்டனில் உள்ள பிரபல கச்சேரி அரங்கான ரவுண்ட்ஹவுஸில் புக்கர் பரிசு விழா நடைபெற்றது. இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் இங்கிலாந்து மன்னர் மூன்றாம் சார்லஸின் மனைவி ராணி கமிலா கலந்து கொண்டார்.

Booker prize for the novel written by Sri Lankan writer Shehan Karunathilaka!

Sri Lankan author Shehan Karunathilaka has won this year’s Booker Prize for fiction. The “International Booker Prize” is considered the highest award is given to writers. The Booker Prize is awarded annually to a novel written in a different country in its regional language and translated into English. While 169 novels from all over the world were submitted for this year’s Booker Prize, a novel written by Sri Lankan author Shehan Karunathilaka has won the Booker Prize this year. Shehan won the Karunatilaka Booker Prize for her fiction “The Seven Moons of Mali Almeida”. The novel is written as a fictional story based on war-torn Sri Lanka between the LTTE and the Sri Lankan Army. The Booker Prize ceremony was held at the Roundhouse, a famous concert venue in London. Queen Camilla, the wife of King Charles III of England, attended the event.
